这里到底是什么

Fei Yun Ya (Flying Cloud Cliff) is a 600-year-old Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) classical garden and national key cultural relic in Huangping County, Guizhou. Moss-covered steps, carved cliff pavilions and inscriptions by philosopher make it one of Guizhou's most serene heritage sites, completely free to visit.

Worth it if you're into old Chinese architecture, quiet corners, and you don't mind a fussy trip out to Huangping - go on a weekday morning for the free, empty version. I'd skip it if you need easy transport, English signage, or a big scenic payoff, and avoid the April 8th fair unless a packed temple festival is exactly what you're after.

亮点
It's genuinely free and quiet if you time it right - go on a weekday morning and you can have the carved cliff pavilions and moss steps largely to yourself (one visitor had the whole place alone on a March weekday).
The old cliff-side architecture is the real draw, not the scenery - there's carved-stone and inscription work here that architecture buffs single out as unusual, so slow down and actually look at the pavilions and the Wang Yangming inscription instead of just snapping photos.
Autumn is the payoff season - the ginkgo turns yellow against the old buildings and it's a completely different place than in spring; morning sun acts as a natural filter on the stonework.
There's a small cave/tunnel near the far end you can duck through to get back down without retracing your steps - worth doing so you're not walking the same path twice.
要注意
The April 8th (lunar) temple fair is a mob scene - locals describe it as elbow-to-elbow 'people watching people.' If you want the place for the architecture and quiet, that's the one date to avoid.
Getting here is the hard part and nobody gives a straight answer: it's out near Huangping/Kaili, and public transport and taxis are awkward. Sort your driving route and which high-speed rail station to use before you go, or you'll waste half the day.
There's very little English signage or interpretation on site, so the history and inscriptions won't mean much unless you read up first - even locals admit they walked past it for decades without understanding what they were looking at.
It's genuinely remote from Guiyang, so pairing it with another stop in one day and getting back is tight - don't over-pack the itinerary around it.

Wang Yangming's Inscription

Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) philosopher visited and inscribed Fei Yun Ya, earning it the title 'First Cave of Southern Guizhou' (the 'First Cave of Southern Guizhou').

Moss-Covered Garden Steps

After rain the moss turns an even richer green, coating stone steps as visitors watch it creep upward and listen to the babbling brook.

Carved Cliff Pavilions

Deep in the mountains, the arches and carved cliff pavilions form what visitors call Guizhou's most beautiful ancient architectural complex.
