Chengdu's Quiet Alleys Walk
A slow drift through Chengdu's old teahouse lanes, courtyard boutiques, and riverside cafes where locals linger over jasmine tea.
这里到底是什么
Chengdu's citywalk is less a tourist checklist than a slow drift between old teahouse lanes, low-key courtyard boutiques, and riverfront cafes where locals linger over jasmine tea. The route threads Kuanzhai Alley, Wangping riverside, Tangbazi heritage block, Daci Temple, and Yulin Road — catching the everyday flavours most visitors miss.
编辑点评
Worth it if you want to see how Chengdu actually lives rather than tick off sights — go early on a weekday, end in Yulin at dusk, and pin the stops in advance. Skip it if you're short on time or need big landmarks; it's a mood, not a highlight reel.

Kuanzhai Alley courtyards
Kuanzhai Xiangzi (Kuanzhai Alley, a restored Qing-dynasty courtyard block dating to 1718) is the gentlest start — three parallel lanes with tea houses, ear-cleaning stalls, and stone-paved lanes wide enough for two rickshaws. Enter from the north gate and walk straight south; the south gate opens to a small river perfect for a first photo stop.
Wangping riverside curve
Wangping Jie (Wangping Street, a former riverside warehouse row) was named one of Time Out's 50 coolest streets in 2018. Walk the curve with the Funan River on your right; the Jihe Bookstore facade reads best from the footbridge looking south (best at golden hour around 5-6 PM when west-facing glass catches warm light).
Yulin's plastic-stool evenings
Yulin Lu (Yulin Road) gets its character from the late afternoon — small restaurants roll out red plastic stools, neighbours argue over mahjong, and the Little Bar immortalised in Zhao Lei's 2014 song 'Chengdu' lights up around 8 PM. Order a bottle of Snow Beer and a bowl of su jiao zha jiang mian (noodles with minced pork and chili oil, the local breakfast staple turned all-day snack) and join in.
