Before the journey

A few things
to keep in mind.

This is an edited planning outline. Its day sequence and main stops carry into the planner, where you can change them. Transport times, admission and prices are not live quotations.

01 / Moving between places

The way there

  • Use local transport between the Kuanzhai and Wenshu areas; walk within each neighbourhood.
  • Keep airport and railway arrival time outside the main sightseeing blocks.

02 / Before you set off

Arrange these first

  • Check the current visiting arrangements for Wenshu Monastery.
  • If you want a performance, choose a specific venue and confirm its programme separately.

03 / A little flexibility

Make a different day

  • With one day, choose one neighbourhood rather than rushing through both.
  • For rain, spend longer in a teahouse and reduce the outdoor lane walk.

04 / Your travel dates

Build your budget

  • Price accommodation, intercity transport, local transfers, tickets and meals separately for your dates. Optional activities and onward journeys need their own allowance.
