Two Rivers Night Cruise
An evening cruise where the Yangtze (China's longest river) and Jialing meet, framed by glowing skyscrapers and Hongyadong's lights.
What it actually is
The Two Rivers Night Cruise (Liangjiang You) is the classic way to experience Chongqing's mountain-meets-river skyline after dark. Boats glide between the Yangtze (China's longest river) and Jialing past Hongyadong, Raffles City, and Qiansimen Bridge. They leave Chaotianmen Pier 19:00-22:00 nightly, looping past the city's most photogenic waterfront. Known for cinematic night views when Hongyadong lights up at dusk.
Editor's take
Worth it on any clear evening Apr-Oct; book the upper deck in advance and avoid weekends if you dislike queues. Skip if you are visiting in Jan-Feb or only have one night for the whole city.

Hongyadong Lit From The Water
The 11-story stilt complex (Hongya Dong, meaning 'Hongya Cave') glows amber along the Jialing riverside and looks like a Miyazaki-style bathhouse drifting on the water. The cruise passes directly underneath, giving the best unobstructed angle.
Qiansimen Bridge Frame
The red-cabled Qiansimen Bridge spans the Yangtze (China's longest river) and Jialing rivers and is the visual anchor of the night skyline. From the upper deck you get the cables and the bridge towers framing Hongyadong and Raffles City in a single composition.
Where Two Rivers Meet
Chongqing sits at the confluence of the Yangtze (China's longest river) (Chang Jiang) and the Jialing rivers, and the cruise loops right through the meeting point. The color difference between the two rivers is visible for several minutes mid-cruise, especially after recent rain.
