Check any guide's licence yourself.
Every licensed tour guide in China is listed in the Ministry's public registry. Enter the licence number printed on your confirmation and the registry returns the guide's name, licence status and the agency they work with. It is the same lookup used by regulators and travel agencies.

Mid-October is fine. Go on a weekday and be at the west gate before 09:00, the tour buses come up from Guiyang around 10:30. Skip the shuttle down to Doupotang, it is a 15 minute walk on a good path. Take a poncho, the spray at the curtain cave soaks you.

Which cities can you arrange a guide in?
Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Hunan. Tibet and Xinjiang are quoted by hand.
How do I pay?
30% in the app once your dates are confirmed; it locks in the guide and the car for those days (Alipay or WeChat; cards coming). 70% to the agency on the day, never to a personal account.
What if I cancel?
Booking fee back in full, always. Service prepayment: full 7+ days out, less a third at 3–7 days, less two thirds at 1–3 days, none within 24 hours. Holidays use the stricter row.
What if the provider cancels?
Everything you paid online is refunded in full, and the provider pays you compensation of 10% of the total price.
