Quiet Yulin Lanes Walk
Slow stroll through Wuhou's most relaxed old neighborhood: indie cafes, vintage shops, an open-air market.
What it actually is
Yulin is Wuhou District's slow-tempo old neighborhood, where narrow lanes wind between indie coffee bars, vintage stores, an open-air market, and the legendary Little Bar that Zhao Lei once sang about. This no-backtrack citywalk stitches together the Wuhou district's Fangcao, Fanghua, and Yulin streets in about four hours, with cafe stops, market snacks, and evening bar crawls folded in.
Editor's take
Worth it for anyone who likes slow neighborhood walking more than tick-box sightseeing. Skip it if you want a single headline sight — Yulin is the sum of small cafes, snack stalls, and a song-era bar, not a monument.

No-backtrack loop through Fanghua and Yulin
The whole route threads five distinct mini-neighborhoods in one afternoon: Fanghua Hengjie's flea-market stalls, Fanghua Street's tree-shaded cafe row, the Yulin Comprehensive Market's produce and snacks, then the bars of Yulin West Road. The geometry is genuinely loop-shaped — you finish walking distance from the metro, not a long hike back.
The Little Bar from Zhao Lei's song
Yulin West Road still hosts the Xiao Jiuguan (Little Bar) that Zhao Lei sang about in 'Chengdu'. It's a tiny corner live-music bar; you can pop in for one beer, listen to a local band, then step back out into the street food. The block around it is the densest cluster of skewer restaurants and Sichuan snack stalls in the neighborhood.
Yulin Market — Chengdu's most honest snack run
The Yulin Comprehensive Market (Yulin Zonghe Shichang) sits in the middle of the indie blocks like a working-class village square. You can graze on langya tudou (spiced potato on a stick), tangyou guozi (deep-fried sugar-glazed rice balls), and shousi tu (hand-shredded rabbit) for under 30 RMB a head. Local aunties and uncles play mahjong right at the entrance — that is the scene, not a prop.
